I'm Ruairí. I'm 21, based in Northern Ireland, working full time with university alongside it. I started lifting in December 2023 and became a sauna regular: the electric one at my local leisure centre, a wood fired one in a garden in County Tyrone, and now the one at my gym in Belfast. Nearly three years, several times a week.
After enough sessions I noticed something that bothered me. Everyone in there, me included, was sitting in plastic swim shorts. Soaked, clinging, in a ninety degree room. It was obviously the wrong material for the room, and nobody made the right one.
I'm not a doctor and I'm not an expert in anything I'd be suspicious of me for claiming. What I am is someone who's been in the room a long time, noticed what everybody's wearing, and decided to do something about it.
Why Amuro?
I spent weeks trying to come up with a name. Somewhere in that I realised the best brand names usually don’t mean anything at first. They end up meaning something because of what the brand stands for. For us that’s slowing down, looking after your body and protecting your peace.
So I stopped looking for a meaning and went by sound. I split it into two parts, Am and uro, and kept trying combinations until one landed. I wanted something that sounded premium, was easy to say, felt unique and a bit cultured. Amuro was the one.
Then I found out it already had a meaning. In Japanese, Amuro is written 安室. 安 means peace or calm, and 室 means room. Put together, it’s something like “a room of calm.”
I didn’t plan that. But for a brand built around the sauna and protecting your peace, it felt like the name picked us.

Talk to me
Ask me something, or tell me I've got something wrong. It comes straight to me. There are a hundred pairs in this first drop and there is no support desk.
